Blaze Blog:OMT
This is my first blog post so my writing style will be a little informal. I’m apologizing to all the college professors out there in advance. Yes, I am going to write in the first person. I am a big believer in OMT and plan to blog here on a consistent basis. You may have seen my work on Wizbang or RealGM ranting on professional basketball. My most popular work was an interview with Stevie Johnson (professional basketball player in Spain) and my mock drafts.
Am I the only one that wants to run a team? Can anyone else relate? Do you have the bug? I want to track down that 7 footer in Sri Lanka or sign that young prospect from Kiev. I want to win, and I don’t just mean often. I want to win every game. I want to win championships. I want to blow the Gary Steelheads out by 40 points. When Shaun Fountain (5′11 guard) plays OMT he will cover his head with a towel to hide the tears of being handed the most embarrassing loss of his career.
The IBL would be an excellent league for OMT. The IBL plays in the spring after the NBDL, PBL, and CBA finish their seasons. Many of the professional leagues around the world are ending when the IBL begins. This means that OMT will have endless options to sign free agent players. In the future IBL teams are likely to exceed the talent level of most NBDL clubs. This is an opportunity for OMT owners to run the best organization outside the NBA. Exciting, I know!
The question then becomes where would OMT play home games? Most major cities in the USA have endless entertainment options. Sometimes the media does a poor job of covering minor league basketball. The IBL has been successful in developing several expansion teams in Asia. The commissioner even believes there will be teams in Europe by 2010. There are several potential locations listed in the OMT forum. You all should join OMT so you can post in the forums. Evaluate the list of potiental locations posted in the team forum. One of the most exciting venues would be Reykjavik, Iceland. I invite you all to google Reykjavik. The country is beautiful, and the 200,000 people in the capital city live and breathe basketball. What do you think? Is Iceland a good idea?
I’m glad to be here, and I hope to hear from everyone in the forums.
