Its not about the league!!!
Most of the questions I get from prospective members and people in general is questions similar to:
- I didn’t even know there was a minor league basketball?
- This won’t work because no one knows about minor league basketball?
- No one knows any of these players?
- These aren’t household names?
My reply to questions like these is very simply… “It’s not about the league, it’s not about the talent, it’s not about any of that!”
The idea & premise behind OwnMyTeam is that it’s not about making sure we can somehow sign Kobe Bryant to the team so it will be exciting. It’s about the process of franchise ownership. It’s the battle against all the other teams in our league to see if we can build a championship team out of it. It’s about a tremendously large social experiment to see if it can be done. Can we come together as a group of like minded sports fanatics who believe we are smarter than Joe Dumars and build a team to win it? It’s about going into the forums and arguing your point until your blue in the face and trying to convince a thousand other people that your position is right. It’s about the satisfaction of watching the game live on our web site and knowing that you were a big part of bringing a certain player who is playing great to our team! It’s about knowing that because of your advice we all decided to take a second look at our coach and eventually hire him to a contract. It’s things like these and more that excite me. IT’S NOT THE LEAGUE!
