I have a few final thoughts about the IBL as a league in comparison to other the leagues. Right now (overall), the NBDL is the minor league with the most talent in the USA. The CBA, PBL, and other winter leagues have higher expenses and less talent than the IBL. These leagues also have to compete with high school, college, and other professional teams for fans (basically $$). Several NBDL teams have trouble drawing a solid fan base and now NBDL teams are related to one or even two NBA teams.

The point is that starting a new CBA, PBL, or ABA team would be very challenging to make profitable. The pool of players would be rather low as well. Agents are always going to prefer their clients (players) take jobs overseas that pay more money. If OMT decides they want to own a winter league team, then I would suggest going outside the United States to do this. If you want  a winter team go to a country like Spain, France, or Germany. Actually those teams’ expenses are so bloated I’d consider leagues in Croatia, Estonia, Bulgaria, Iceland, and others first. Anyways, you get my point.

The IBL is expanding overseas, so technically you could put an IBL team in another country as well. I would suggest looking into that, because these foreign cities might support the team better. However, you can locate in a city here in the states as well. The reason for this is all other basketball is over and done with. You aren’t competing with the local colleges and high schools for fans. Plus, all the other leagues are ending. This means the IBL team would have a large pool of players to choose from.

This is just some information I wanted to get out to everybody. Yes the ABA ball looks pretty cool, but their league is an absolute joke. Expenses are high and teams fold on a regular basis. Teams also don’t show up for games on occasion (including playoff games). As you can see picking the right league is vital to the financial success of OMT.
