As stated in my introduction some organizations have been successful and a few are in the red. In minor league basketball the main revenue streams are ticket sales and sponsorships. The teams having success have courted several sponsors and find ways to inform the community about the club. I was at one game and counted under 200 fans in attendance. The Elkhart Express average over 2000 fans a game. You can see one team has had success and the other has not. One of the major differences is media coverage. The Express have a close connection with the local paper and some of their games are even televised. The Express also have gone out in the community and found several sponsors. At the Express website season ticket packages are sold online.

A first rate IBL team should be run following the IBL business plan. The Elkhart Express have followed that business plan and they have even gone above and beyond. OMT’s membership dues will go a long way towards running the best team in the IBL. Even with membership dues OMT should focus on ticket sales and sponsorships just like any other team. I encourage everyone to visit (http://www.elkhartexpress.com) the Express website to see how a first rate organization is run.
