Nuggets Ink Anthony Carter
Despite being offered a minimum level contract Anthony Carter accepted it from the Nuggets. This free agent splash came after the Nuggets traded their first round pick and ended up with Sonny Weems in a trade later in the draft. I understand the Nuggets have a lot of contracts and salary on the books, but this is ridiculous. When the Nuggets were battling for the last playoff spot they made a trade deadline deal for Taurean Green. In the draft they trade their first rounder and end up with Sonny Weems. Now they are bringing back an overachieving point guard who shouldn’t have been starting for any NBA team last season (but he made the most of his opportunity).
This is exactly why I think there is a huge place in sports for fan run teams. No fan run team would sit idly by at allow these moves (or lack of moves) to take place. The Nuggets have AI who is an expiring contract on their roster. Let me put this bluntly. If AI and George Karl aren’t willing to move him to the point guard position, then he has no place on the Nugget’s roster. This 6 footer simply cannot guard the elite wings of the NBA, so it is PG or bust for AI.
Denver front office- it is time to make some moves. Get a pass first point guard. Trade for a wing that is defensive minded and can make open jumpers. Move Marcus Camby while his value is still high. DON’T sit on your hands any longer.
