Welcome to my first blog post.

I intend to mostly blog about what’s going on at OwnMyTeam.com with sprinkles of sports stories tossed in for good measure.

OwnMyTeam.com is all about sports enthusiasts grabbing the industry by the horns.

How many of you have dreamed about running your own pro sports team? I can think back over the years of watching sports around the tv with my friends. We would discuss the decisions that General Managers make when trading players, hiring coaches, and such. We would always argued that we could do the job just as well if not better than they were doing in most situations, an argument that I (and I assume many of you) still feel strongly about. OwnMyTeam.com is 100% about this exact issue!

I was lying in bed late one Monday night watching the game as over the speakers comes an announcement that a trade had just made. When I realized that one of the teams involved happened to be a personal favorite that I follow almost religiously, I started to think “What if I owned the team? I would have done it completely different instead of how they did.” With that being the initial spark, the idea of OwnMyTeam was taking shape. I thought about it more and more, realizing that I had no rich relatives to leave me enough to purchase my own team. But surely their are plenty others out there with the same idea, right? Would it be possible for a group of fans to actually purchase and manage a real professional sports team?

I got up early the next morning (or more accurately, gave up on trying to sleep) and went online to try and research my idea. I found nothing like it in the United States. However, I did find one gentleman who had implemented the same idea in England. He has been very successfully in his bid, as just recently they have purchased a majority stake in a high level soccer team. And then it all clicked into place. If the idea can work in England, it most certainly can work here in the United States.

Soon after, I spoke to a few lawyers about setting this idea up legally to protect not only myself but the members as well, from any liability of loss. It didn’t take long to have everything set up legally and you’ll be able to view the legal documents on the web site very soon. Thousands of dollars went into the legality of this idea along making sure that everyone would be protected in the events that may arise. With all of the security measures in place, I knew that the idea, concept, and success of OwnMyTeam are completely within our reach.

I hope that you’ve found this information enjoyable as it’s my desire to show you the benefits of joining us in our quest to make sports history. Check back often as I will continue to blog my thoughts, inspirations & dreams of what’s to come and of course, please post any questions you may have so that I can make sure what you’re wondering gets answered.
