“What do I get out of becoming a member?”
Membership to OwnMyTeam.com offers you the following:
- Access to the Private Owners Forum.
- Ability to vote on all team related decisions including, but not limited to:
- What sport the team will be for
- Team name and possible locations
- Uniform color and design
- Who to hire (Coaches, assistants, trainers, etc..)
- What players to sign or trade and their contract amount.
- Team strategy and game play.
- Team income and expenses.
- Decisions related to the arena (gate fees, advertising, security, staff responsibility, food & drinks)

“If the team has any financial or insurance issues am I liable or responsible for any of it?”
Not a chance. OwnMyTeam.com is part of the Primarydrive Trust, and as such will protect you from all liability. Our business model is specifically established to prevent this from even happening as there will always be new income through traditional sources such as sponsorships, merchandising, and event tickets.

“Are there any requirements or restrictions to becoming a member?”
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- You must reside in the United States or Canada.
- You may up to two shares of the trust.

“What if I don’t want to be a member of OwnMyTeam.com in the second year?”
Membership fees are an annual expense. If you do not want to continue being a member, there’s absolutely no obligation to renew. If you should change your mind you can always sign back up and pick up right where you left off.

Isn't OwnMyTeam.com just another Fantasy Sports site?”
Not even close. You may have missed our tagline “Taking The Fantasy Out Of Fantasy Sports”. We've taken the dream of owning a Pro Basketball team and established a system that will allow a large group of us to actually do so. All of your decisions and opinions count and affect the outcome of our team. So while your friends are deciding their line up for the next game in their Fantasy Sports league, you'll be deciding the line up in a REAL PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL LEAGUE.

Couldn't a group of shareholders get together and sabotage the team?”
With the total number of members needed to purchase a team estimated at close to 7,000, it would take a unrealistic number of individuals willing to spend $59.99 a year to actually pull that off. Considering that all decisions are made through membership voting, opinions meant to sabotage the team won't have any power behind them.

Won’t the opposition be able to find out team line-ups and tactics, giving them an advantage?”
No. We've specifically safeguarded against any actions like this by making sure that all vital information is kept off the boards until it would be too late for anyone to act on it. What this means is that your questions to the coaches and staff won't be available until right before the upcoming game.

How do you know this will work?”
Al though we would love to claim this as our own original idea, this method has been used before by companies like MyFootballClub. Every aspect of OwnMyTeam.com has been worked through with our legal staff to make sure that there are no loopholes or issues that would halt our process. We may be dreamers, but we have our feet planted firmly on the ground.

I don't get channel X, how can I watch the game?”
All OwnMyTeam.com members will have the ability to watch their teams game directly on the OwnMyTeam.com website.

What can I do to help?”
The first thing you can do to help is sign up to be a member! Once you've done that, spend some time on the forum and get to know your fellow owners. If you're looking to get OwnMyTeam.com closer to purchasing a team, get your friends and family to sign up with us as well! We'll be offering plenty of banners and other ways for you to proudly display on other forums and your own webpage that you're a member of OwnMyTeam.com and everyone else should be as well.

What about a Head Coach?”
That decision is 100% up to our members! We'll take the time to find some potential candidates that fit the goals and characteristics that our members are specifically looking for in a Head Coach. After that, the entire discussion and interview process is left up to you. It's your team after all!

“I think we hired the wrong guy, can we fire him?”
Absolutely. While it's not as simple as adding or dropping a player in Fantasy Sports, if enough members request that the Head Coach should be fired we'll set up the proper channels of discussion. Considering the damage that a hasty firing of a coach could have on our team, this specific decision will be treated with the utmost importance and as such will follow it's own guidelines that will be set when the time comes.

“Does the Head Coach report to us?”
Yes, in the same way he would to a single owner. The Head Coach will be as active as possible on the Private Owner Forums to answer your questions and concerns while keeping you updated about the team. He'll be available at least once a week to have full discussions about past and future games so that you know he's leading your team in the right direction.

"What happens to the staff if we purchase a pre-existing team?”
If the decision is made to purchase a pre-existing team, before the purchase is made we will discuss what the course of action would be regarding the staff. If the team was good enough to catch our interest, we probably won't want to remove their entire staff. A discussion would be held allowing owners to voice their opinion on who should stay and go with the mindset of making changes that wouldn't ultimately damage the team morale.

“Will there be a board at OwnMyTeam?"
Yes. As an owner of the team, you'll help in deciding who will be on the OwnMyTeam Board of Directors as well. Those appointed to the board will be solely responsible for ensuring that decisions made by the OwnMyTeam owners are implemented exactly how they were meant to. The board will be responsible for presenting all of the decisions that need to be discussed directly to the OwnMyTeam.org private owners forum. To ensure that no issue is neglected, all board members will be active on the forums.

Where we differ from a normal board of directors is that while they'll be the ones taking action, you'll be making the decisions.

"What happens if there is money left over after purchasing a team?"
You'll have a lot more decisions to make! The money left over could be used for plenty of different things such as purchasing new players or splitting it up into various funds, it's completely up to you.

“What happends if there is no money left over after purchasing a team?”
Every team presented to the OwnMyTeam.com Private Owners Forum will have show the cost of the team and the estimated cost of running it for one full year. This way, when it's determined that the team will be purchased, you won't have to worry about the OwnMyTeam Trust not having enough funds to follow through with all your hard work.

"Can OwnMyTeam members sell the team the if they want to?"
Yes they can. Although it will require an 85% majority to finalize the decision. Keep in mind that this is a not-for-profit operation, so the only benefit of a sale would be to purchase another team.

"What if members make the team successful, will they be rewarded?"
As this is a not-for-profit operation, all earnings will be reinvested into the franchise to help create a more stable team financially.

What type of Pro Basketball Team we  can purchase?”

While we considered the possibility of purchasing a Major League team, what we realized is that it would require over 40 times our estimated number of members needed to purchase a team. Not only that but we wouldn't be able to offer you the same type of involvement. With a Minor League Basketball team, you will be able to have a complete hands on experience that could not be matched in the Major Leagues.

How do I access the forums?”
Members can access the forums by logging in here. If you haven't registered yet, you can do so here.

"How is voting handled?"
Whenever a new decision comes to a vote, each member will be prompted through their profile to place their vote. Once the vote has been counted, the results will be announced through e-mail or private message depending on the preferences you've set.

"Why isn't there a real-time counter showing how many registered members there are?"
By placing that counter on our site we are faced with large issue. If we displayed a counter of that sort, we would lose all power over negotiation when purchasing a team as anyone could simply count the number of members and multiply that by the membership cost to determine our total budget. Within the forum itself you will be able to see the number of users once you have joined.

Who is behind OwnMyTeam?”
Clyde Warman is the owner and brains behind OwnMyTeam. After talking to a close friend about the business side of minor league sports, Clyde began to wonder why he had never heard of anyone attempting an idea like OwnMyTeam before. After searching the internet to make sure that he hadn't simply missed something like this, it became apparent that the only other notable time that something like this had been attempted as actually happening right now in England through MyFootballClub. With a little inspiration and guidance from MyFootballClub, Clyde started up OwnMyTeam the first United States.
